Alkegen, a Saint-Elzéar-de-Beauce based company, has teamed up with Quebec and Canadian organizations to carry out - for the first time - an industrial cooperation project for the recycling of textile products.
This pilot project will lean to the launch of a high quality multi-purpose bag which contains 50% post consummation textile (clothing) and the other 50% from plastic bottles. In the first phase, 10 000 bags will be available “en primeur” in some ten or so Canadian Tire stores this fall.
Alkegen played a key role in this fiber transformation into high-quality felt made from recycled material, moreover participating in the concept development towards the finished product. The company also manufactured the bags in its Saint-Elzéar workshop.
